Esta lección explica cómo evitar repetir una cláusula completa usando estructuras sustitutivas cortas. Los hablantes nativos suelen reemplazar una cláusula repetida por una expresión compacta que usa so, neither, either o un auxiliar + not. Estos sustitutos hacen que las oraciones sean concisas y naturales en la conversación y el inglés de negocios.

  • Usa 'so' + auxiliar + sujeto para estar de acuerdo con una cláusula afirmativa (ej.: So do I).
  • Usa 'neither' + auxiliar + sujeto (o auxiliar + not + either) para estar de acuerdo con una cláusula negativa.
  • No olvides la inversión después de 'so' y 'neither' (auxiliar antes del sujeto).

Regla clave: estructura e inversión

Recuerda dos puntos importantes al sustituir cláusulas:

  • Para acuerdo afirmativo usa: So + auxiliar/modal + sujeto (So do I; So have they; So can she).
  • Para acuerdo negativo usa: Neither + auxiliar + sujeto O auxiliar + not + either (Neither did I; I didn't either).
  • Después de 'so' y 'neither' debes invertir auxiliar y sujeto (el auxiliar va antes del sujeto).

Si no hay auxiliar en la cláusula original, usa un auxiliar apropiado (do/does/did).

Errores comunes a evitar

Cuidado con estos errores universales al usar sustitutos:

  • Omitir el auxiliar: Incorrecto: 'She finished the report, and so I.' Correcto: 'So did I.'
  • Orden de palabras incorrecto (sin inversión): Incorrecto: 'So I did.' Correcto: 'So did I.'
  • Usar 'so' para acuerdo negativo: Incorrecto: 'He didn't come, so did I.' Usa 'Neither did I' o 'I didn't either.'
  • Mezclar formas: No combines 'neither' con 'either' en la misma respuesta corta (evita 'Neither did I either').
