Rapporter des offres, suggestions, ordres, intentions et similaires

Cette leçon explique comment rapporter différents actes de parole : offres, suggestions, ordres (commandes), intentions et remarques proches. En rapportant ces énoncés, on change souvent les temps, les pronoms, les expressions temporelles et la structure de la phrase. On utilise des verbes de rapport différents selon l'acte original.

  • Utilisez des verbes de rapport spécifiques (offered, suggested, ordered, intended, promised) pour indiquer l'acte du locuteur.
  • Les offres et promesses utilisent généralement 'to' + infinitif (He offered to help; She promised to send it).
  • Les suggestions peuvent être rapportées avec le gérondif -ing (He suggested postponing) ou avec 'that' + should (He suggested that we should postpone).
  • Les ordres et commandements utilisent 'told' ou 'ordered' + objet + to-infinitive (The boss told him to finish).
  • Les intentions se rapportent avec 'intended to' ou 'was/were going to' selon le temps.

Règles clés pour rapporter offres, suggestions, ordres et intentions

Associez le verbe de rapport à l'acte original et modifiez la forme verbale en conséquence :

  • Offres / promesses → verbe de rapport + to-infinitive : He offered to help. She promised to send it.
  • Suggestions → suggest + -ing OU suggest + that + should (BrE) : He suggested revising the plan. / He suggested that we should revise the plan.
  • Ordres / commandements → told/ordered + objet + to-infinitive : The director told them to improve quality.
  • Intentions → said + (that) + sujet + intended to OU was/were going to : She said she intended to attend. / She said she was going to attend.

Choisissez des verbes de rapport précis (offer, suggest, order, promise, refuse, intend) pour refléter le sens du locuteur.

Common mistakes to avoid

Faites attention à ces erreurs universelles lorsque vous rapportez des offres, suggestions, ordres et intentions :

  • Utiliser le mauvais verbe de rapport : n'utilisez pas 'said' si le locuteur a réellement offert, suggéré, ordonné ou promis — choisissez un verbe précis.
  • Mauvaise forme verbale après le verbe de rapport : après 'suggest', n'utilisez pas l'infinitif sans 'to' (utilisez -ing ou une proposition en 'that').
  • Ordre des mots incorrect pour les commandements rapportés : évitez d'omettre l'objet avant 'to' (The manager told to finish → incorrect).
  • Oublier de changer les temps ou les expressions temporelles si nécessaire : gardez une séquence logique (par ex. 'tomorrow' peut devenir 'the next day').
  • Utiliser l'ordre interrogatif dans les rapports : convertissez les questions en ordre déclaratif (She asked where the files were, not She asked where are the files).
